Uzbekistan Reports Drop in Gas Production but 38% Growth in Exports by July 2025

Uzbekistan produced more than 25.3 bn cubic metres of natural gas between January and July 2025, a year-on-year fall of 3.4%, according to data released by the National Statistics Committee.
Gas condensate production also decreased, dropping from 725,700 tonnes last year to 668,000 tonnes. Oil extraction declined by nearly 11%, falling to 378,800 tonnes.
Despite reduced domestic output, Uzbekistan significantly increased its gas exports. Overseas sales rose by 38.2% over the year, reaching $438.6 mln.
At the same time, the country cut back on imports. By August 1, gas imports stood at $734 mln. Imports of coal and coke grew by 9.2% to $104.8 mln.
In total, Uzbekistan imported $2 bn worth of fuel and lubricants during the seven-month period, while exports reached $876.2 mln.
Kursiv also reports that Uzbekistan imported a record amount of natural gas from Russia and Turkmenistan in the first half of 2025.
