Redland City Council in Queensland has put forward its region as a possible wedding location for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce following their recent engagement announcement.
The couple, both aged 35, confirmed the news on Instagram with a series of photographs from the proposal. Swift captioned the images, «Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married.»
Council’s Proposal and Online Reaction
In response, the council shared a post on its official social media page, presenting images of the pair against local landmarks such as the Redlands Memorial Hall and Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve.
The message read: «This post is for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, if you’re not Taylor and Travis – keep scrolling. Congratulations on your engagement, what a love story! To make things easy, we’ve picked four beautiful bookable venues on Redlands Coast that you can hold your fairytale wedding at.»
The campaign generated significant attention online, with users noting its success in raising awareness of the area.
Mayor Highlights Regional Attractions
Mayor Jos Mitchell promoted the proposal during an appearance on the Today show, alongside tourism operator Ashley Scott.
She stated: «The team in council came up with this fantastic idea and, as you know, Redlands produces some fantastic talent and you might know that Travis actually grew up in Cleveland… Ohio. Given the close connection that we have with him, give or take 15,000kms, we thought that it was really important to put together some ideas for them to consider for their wedding day.»
Emphasising the attractions of the region, she added:
«Redlands has got everything that anyone could ever possibly need. We have the bay, we have iconic islands and we have some fantastic tourism operators like Ashley. It’s the perfect place to come and say ‘I do’.»
However, the council’s proposal faces competition from Swift’s own residence in Rhode Island, where she is reportedly planning a renovation that may accommodate the ceremony.
