China Energy has agreed to invest $1 bn in the construction of two renewable energy facilities in Kazakhstan. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenzhenov and China Energy President Qiao Xubin.

The projects include a 300 MW solar power plant in the Turkestan region and a 500 MW wind power plant in the Karaganda region. Both facilities are expected to contribute significantly to Kazakhstan’s renewable energy generation capacity and support the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.

In addition to the power projects, the sides discussed cooperation with Kazakhtelecom on building a data processing center (DPC). The facility will be powered by renewable energy sources, aligning with Kazakhstan’s broader digital and green development goals.

The new agreements highlight growing energy cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, focusing on sustainable infrastructure and technology-driven projects.
