Airbus has ordered immediate repairs to 6,000 jets from its A320 family in one of the largest recalls in its history, Reuters reports. The fix involves reverting to earlier software and must be completed before the aircraft return to service. More than half of all A320s worldwide are affected.

Airlines across the United States, Europe, India and Latin America warned of delays and cancellations. American Airlines said 340 of its A320 aircraft need the update and expects most repairs to be finished within a day. Lufthansa, IndiGo and easyJet have also taken aircraft out of service briefly.

Avianca said over 70% of its fleet is affected, forcing it to halt ticket sales for travel until 8 December. Air France has cancelled 35 flights and other carriers have reported shorter disruptions.

The recall was triggered by an incident linked to a flight-control system known as ELAC. Regulators have now made the repair mandatory.

Uzbekistan Airways operates ten A320 and A320neo jets and five A321neo aircraft, while Centrum Air flies seven A320s and three A321s.

Uzbekistan Airways has commented on the situation involving software issues affecting A320 airliners.

«For Uzbekistan Airways, there is currently no information about which aircraft in our fleet this measure may apply to, or whether any of our planes will fall under this process at all. We can only wait,» a company representative told Kursiv Uzbekistan.
