Uzbekistan is set to attract $10 mln in Turkish investment as MT Makina enters the country’s waste management sector. The projects will be implemented in the Samarkand region and focus on both waste sorting and equipment manufacturing, according to the Agency for Waste Management.

Rather than importing machinery, the partnership is aimed at building local capacity. Plans include a high-capacity waste sorting facility capable of processing up to 500 tonnes of household waste per day, helping regions move away from landfill-based disposal.

A separate production site will manufacture containers and specialized waste-collection vehicles. Annual output is expected to reach about 1,000 units, which could reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and support municipal operators across the country.

The facilities are designed as long-term assets. Around 100 jobs will be created, while the projected operational lifespan of the joint ventures is estimated at two decades.

The timing aligns with Uzbekistan’s policy shift toward incentivizing the sanitation and recycling sector. Tax breaks approved in late 2025 are intended to attract private capital into waste processing, provided companies meet strict revenue and wage requirements.
