Four Countries Show Interest in Hosting 2035 Asian Cup

Australia, South Korea and Kuwait have officially indicated they want to host the 2035 Asian Cup, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on February 4. These nations are also bidding for the 2031 tournament. Japan has expressed interest in hosting the 2035 edition only.
The AFC plans to decide on hosts for both tournaments at a single annual congress, following a proposal from its President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
«The AFC will now work with the respective bidding member associations to coordinate the submission of the required documentation,» the governing body said.
Other nations bidding for the 2031 event include India, Indonesia and a joint bid from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The United Arab Emirates, which staged the 2019 Asian Cup, initially entered the 2031 race but withdrew in November. Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2027 tournament.
Elsewhere, West Ham United agreed to sell Brazil international Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo for more than €41 mln (£35.5 mln).
