Long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons has once again been drawn into online speculation, with fans claiming the show hinted at the existence of Jeffrey Epstein’s private island years before it became widely known.

The theory centres on a season 12 episode that aired in 2000, in which Homer Simpson launches a gossip website under the alias «Mr X». In one deliberately fabricated headline, Homer claims that «some crazy creeps on an island somewhere are secretly running the world». Social media users have recently linked the line to allegations surrounding Epstein’s island and his connections to powerful figures.

The claim has gained traction online following renewed attention on Epstein-related court filings, with some users suggesting the show «warned» viewers decades ago. However, the episode was written as satire, and the storyline explicitly revolves around Homer inventing outlandish falsehoods to maintain attention.

Speculation has also resurfaced around allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, who previously claimed that Simpsons creator Matt Groening was present on Epstein’s private jet. Groening has not been accused of any criminal conduct, and there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on his part. The allegations emerged in court documents linked to a defamation case involving Ghislaine Maxwell.

Writers and producers of The Simpsons have repeatedly dismissed claims that the show predicts real-world events. Former showrunner Al Jean has said apparent «predictions» are the result of coincidence, noting that with hundreds of episodes, some parallels are inevitable.

Despite ongoing debunking, the series’ reputation for uncanny foresight continues to fuel viral theories whenever major global scandals emerge.
