Mohamed Salah To Leave Liverpool At End Of Season

Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, bringing his nine-year spell at Anfield to a close.
The 33-year-old Egypt international confirmed the decision in a video posted on social media, calling it the «first part» of his farewell. Despite signing a new two-year deal in April 2025, he will depart on a free transfer after reaching an agreement with the club over his future.
Salah described his time at Liverpool as life-changing, saying the club and its supporters had become part of him.
«Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a history. It’s a spirit,» he said, thanking team-mates and fans for their support through both success and difficult moments.
Legacy At Anfield
Salah leaves as one of Liverpool’s greatest players, scoring 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on the club’s all-time scoring list. During his time, he helped secure multiple major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
He also won four Premier League Golden Boots and was named PFA Player of the Year three times.
Difficult Final Season
By his standards, the current campaign has been challenging, with 10 goals in 34 matches. His relationship with head coach Arne Slot has also come under scrutiny, with Salah previously saying he felt «thrown under the bus».
Liverpool said Salah chose to announce his departure early out of respect for supporters, adding that a full tribute to his achievements will take place later this year.
The club remain in contention across competitions, with Salah focused on helping Liverpool finish the season strongly before his departure.
