Singer Cruz Beckham left his brother Romeo in tears during a recent gig, performing a song believed to reflect on their estranged sibling Brooklyn.
Romeo, along with parents David and Victoria Beckham, attended the sold-out show on Tuesday at The Courtyard Theatre in East London to support Cruz. Witnesses reported seeing 23-year-old Romeo visibly moved, wiping away tears as Cruz, 21, performed «Loneliest Boy» with his band The Breakers.
The song’s chorus includes lines such as:
«Loneliest boy, mama don’t talk too much, it’s breaking her heart. It shows in the small things that you don’t do. I guess in the end that it’s you, yourself, and you. Tell me how do you live, when you’ve got nobody to lose?»
An onlooker said:
«Romeo was sitting at the back with David and Victoria and became emotional as Cruz sang. Victoria put her arm around his shoulder while David held hers. The emotion in the room was palpable. It was a very sad but moving moment.»
Cruz introduced the song to the audience, saying:
«I’m going to bring it down then we’ll bring it back up again.» Following the performance, the family went backstage to congratulate him.
Brooklyn Beckham, 27, cut ties with his family last year and communicates with them only via lawyers. He publicly stated he did not wish to reconcile and accused his mother of overshadowing his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz at their 2022 wedding. He is also no longer in contact with Romeo, Cruz, or sister Harper, 14, and blocked them on social media.
Cruz will perform more shows at The Courtyard before touring the United States, including ten dates this summer and appearances at Lollapalooza in Chicago with Charli XCX, Lorde, Tate McRae and The Smashing Pumpkins.
