Uzbekistan’s eastern city earned global recognition after residents collectively planted more than 29 million flowers during the annual International Flower Festival

The eastern Uzbek city of Namangan has entered the Guinness World Records after collectively planting more than 29.4 mln flowers in a single month as part of its 65th International Flower Festival.

According to Guinness World Records, the achievement far exceeded the minimum requirement of one million flowers, earning Namangan the title for the largest number of flowers collectively planted in one month. The campaign was coordinated by the regional administration and involved large-scale community participation across the city.

The record-setting effort forms part of the annual Namangan International Flower Festival, one of Central Asia’s largest floral events. This year’s edition runs from May 24 to July 12 and includes exhibitions, cultural performances, scientific conferences, fairs and drone shows.

Organisers expect the festival to attract millions of visitors and say the project was designed to celebrate Namangan’s long-standing flower-growing traditions while enhancing public green spaces throughout the city.
