EU Networking Event Unites Erasmus+ Alumni Community in Uzbekistan

The European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan and the National Erasmus+ Office have hosted a networking event in Tashkent, bringing together Erasmus+ alumni, current participants, university representatives and government officials to strengthen educational and professional ties between Uzbekistan and Europe. The gathering welcomed graduates of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programme as well as newly selected scholarship recipients preparing to begin their studies at European universities.
Speaking at the event, EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Toivo Klaar highlighted the role of Erasmus+ in fostering people-to-people connections and mutual understanding between the European Union and Uzbekistan. He noted that investments in education and academic mobility are essential to broader cooperation in areas such as trade, transport and digital connectivity.
Participants discussed international academic cooperation, student mobility and future opportunities under Erasmus+, while also expanding professional networks and sharing experiences gained through study exchanges. The event served as a platform to strengthen Uzbekistan’s growing Erasmus+ alumni community and encourage closer collaboration between universities and programme participants.
According to the EU Delegation, more than 2,700 Uzbek students and university staff have studied or taught at European institutions through Erasmus+ programmes over the past 12 years, while over 1,400 Europeans have taken part in academic exchanges in Uzbekistan.
