Grandfather’s Missing Star Wars Lego Sparks Viral Saga and Bitter Lawsuits

An 83-year-old grandfather’s plan to fund his grandchildren’s university education with a valuable Star Wars Lego collection has spiralled into a chaotic legal battle. Ed Mansell’s pristine hoard, featuring a rare Cloud City set valued at roughly $10,000 (£7,456), completely vanished from an Oregon toy shop, sparking widespread internet outrage and multiple lawsuits.
The dispute began when Mansell’s family placed the collection on consignment with Chrystal Law who operated a local Bricks & Minifigs franchise. Over a year later the parent company ousted Law over unpaid debts and transferred the shop to new management. When Mansell’s monthly cheques stopped arriving he visited the store only to discover the new owners had no knowledge of his collection or the original agreement.
The local conflict exploded into a global sensation when popular YouTuber Reckless Ben, whose real name is Ben Schneider, launched an aggressive public campaign. His viral videos accused the company of stealing $200,000 worth of toys. The resulting online fury forced the Oregon store to close permanently due to severe staff harassment and explicit bomb threats. Schneider was also arrested in Utah on charges including stalking and criminal trespass.
The saga has now descended into a complex web of litigation. Bricks & Minifigs is suing Schneider and the Mansell family for harassment and extortion while claiming the collection was actually worth $80,000. Meanwhile Law is countersuing the corporation for improperly seizing her business.
Despite the ongoing legal chaos the internet has passionately rallied behind the elderly collector. A GoFundMe page has raised over $465,000 to cover the family’s legal fees and lost value. However the online campaign has now stalled after a Utah judge issued a strict temporary injunction barring Schneider from discussing the case any further.
