Google recently announced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, but the first leaks about its 2027 replacement are already circulating. The Google Pixel 12 Pro Fold is slated to emerge next August, possibly with a Tensor G7 CPU – and there is plenty of pressure on Google to trim weight, boost battery capacity and finally deliver its foldable, flagship-level cameras.
The Pixel 12 Pro Fold is likely to ship as part of Google’s 2027 Pixel generation, with August the most realistic date if the company adheres to its usual timetable. One early leak even gives the foldable an internal codename: «Capuchin», part of a primate-themed Pixel 12 family that also includes Galago, Sasquatch and Silverback.
This update is about where the firm information ends. Google has not launched the Pixel 12 series yet, and much of what we’re hearing today is either early supply-chain chatter or a rather apparent list of what its next $2,000-ish foldable has to do better.
Android Central expects Google to preserve the present circular Pixel Fold shape but thinks the next iteration really needs to get lighter. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold weighs 239g; however, it is approximately 10% lighter than its predecessor. Google’s own specifications also state that it’s 10.1mm thick when folded.

Google Pixel 12 Pro Fold to get bigger battery
Google has cut down the size of this year’s model, stuffing the Pixel 11 Pro Fold with a 4,806 mAh battery. Even so, that is fairly low for a modern book-style foldable, despite Google touting over 24 hours of use and ramped-up wired and Qi2.2 wireless charging speeds.
There is at least one fascinating way to proceed. At the Pixel 11 unveiling, a Google official claimed the firm was looking at silicon-carbon battery innovation, which can pack more capacity into a similar physical footprint. However, there is no confirmation that it will be included in the Pixel 12 Pro Fold.

Another possible improvement is the next Tensor chip. Initial reports are talking about a Tensor G7, with Google said to be testing both LPDDR5X and faster LPDDR6 memory options for the Pixel 12 generation. Those are not official specifications yet.

The bigger test could be the cameras
The tricky question for Google is perhaps why its most expensive phone still doesn’t get its greatest camera hardware.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a decent triple system — a 48MP main, a 10.5MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP 5x telephoto — but its zoom maxes out at 30x, and the lesser auxiliary sensors are still a compromise compared to regular premium Pixels and some competing foldables.
Android Central says the Pixel 12 Pro Fold should close that gap, not make foldable buyers accept poorer cameras just because their phone folds.

How much could Google Pixel 12 Pro Fold cost?
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold starts at $1,899, right at the top of the Android market. Google should be back at that level again next year; however, pressure on memory prices could force expenses up, Android Central thinks. That is still speculation and not a revelation about pricing.
Google has already addressed several long-standing foldable concerns — the current model packs IP68 water and dust resistance, an 8-inch inner display and a more durable hinge — but by 2027, durability alone may not be enough.

The next Fold will have to seem less like a wise compromise and more like Google’s greatest Pixel that just so happens to fold, at nearly $2,000.
