A documentary chronicling the career of K-pop star G-Dragon is currently in production at Disney+ and is expected to premiere in 2027.
According to an anonymous industry source who spoke to The Korea Herald, the project will examine the artist’s influence on the genre. It will highlight both his journey as a solo musician and his tenure as a pivotal member of the boy band Big Bang. Production staff reportedly began contacting individuals close to the singer in July.
While an exact launch date remains unconfirmed, the source indicated the release could coincide with the conclusion of Big Bang’s ongoing 20th-anniversary world tour. The tour, titled «XX: Cosmos», began on August 21 at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province.
World tour and other projects
YG Entertainment has announced 33 concerts across 19 cities. The final scheduled show will take place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in February, though more dates may be added later. The insider expects the filming process to run through the end of these performances.
Representatives for Disney+ Korea declined to comment on the project.
This upcoming film represents the second recent collaboration between the streaming platform and the performer. In July, Disney partnered with G-Dragon’s fashion label Peaceminusone for a «Toy Story» collection.
The retail initiative debuted in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong district before expanding throughout the Asia-Pacific region. It marked Disney’s first major joint product development venture with a K-pop artist in the area.
