The agreement builds on work that started on June 8, when John Legend played An Evening of Songs and Stories in Samarkand. Mobiuz was a gold partner of the concert and carried high-speed mobile internet to the crowd in Registan Square.

The memorandum turns that one-off into a standing arrangement. It covers joint projects, cultural events and educational programs, and most of that work will use the Mobiuz network and its digital services to put cultural and educational projects in front of more people.

«This is an important partnership for us,» said Yoqubjon Saydaliyev, first deputy CEO of Mobiuz. «The Foundation has taken a great deal of Uzbek culture to international audiences in recent years. Our job is to make the same projects reachable for people at home, through our network, our digital services and the millions of subscribers we reach every day. The memorandum gives that work a structure.»

«Preserving heritage and promoting contemporary art takes partners who can work at a national scale,» said Saidaziz Ishankhodjaev, deputy chairman of the Foundation. «Mobiuz has the infrastructure and the audience to carry our projects into every region of the country. We expect this to turn into joint projects, educational programs and real support for artists.»

The Samarkand concert showed what that looks like in practice: technology that puts thousands of people in the same place at the same time and lets more of them take part in the country’s cultural life. Mobiuz plans to keep backing projects like it.
