Apple sets October 28 launch for new MacBook Pro, iMac and iPad mini

Apple is preparing a second product launch for October 28, with a touchscreen MacBook Pro, updated iMac models and a redesigned iPad mini expected to lead the lineup.
The company invited selected journalists and tech reviewers to a hands-on event in Los Angeles branded «Pro and Tell» starting at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Greg Joswiak teased the announcement on social media, writing:

Instead of a traditional keynote presentation, Apple will likely reveal the devices through press releases before offering physical demonstrations to invited media members.
First touchscreen MacBook Pro
The primary draw is expected to be Apple’s first MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display and touchscreen capabilities. This redesigned laptop should arrive in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, swapping the traditional display notch for an iPhone-style Dynamic Island.
Other reported updates include a lighter body, a reinforced hinge to stop the screen from shaking during touch interactions and support for touchscreen gestures in macOS 27.
The premium models might stick with the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max processors instead of adding newer chips. Apple could place the OLED laptops above its current MacBook Pro range, with higher prices reflecting the costly displays and touch technology.
M6 Macs and OLED iPad mini
Apple is also preparing updates for its more affordable computers. The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and 24-inch iMac are expected to get the new M6 processor but no major exterior design changes.
The company might also reveal the eighth-generation iPad mini, giving the tablet an OLED display for the first time. Reports suggest the tablet will feature an A20 Pro processor, a landscape front camera and a redesigned speaker system that improves water resistance.
The screen might support a 120Hz refresh rate. These changes could raise the starting price by about $200 from the current $599.
The new devices could hit stores as early as November 6, with pre-orders likely opening right after the unveiling.
This upcoming launch follows the recent introduction of the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable smartphone, which reaches buyers on October 23. Apple also recently showed off its HomeView smart display, an updated Apple TV 4K and a second-generation HomePod mini.
