Cyberpunk 2077 just received another major free update, even though developer CD Projekt Red previously suggested it was done with big additions to the five-year-old game.

Update 2.5, nicknamed the Edgerunners 2 Update, launched on October 22. It arrives right alongside the second season of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix, bringing fresh story content, crossover gear and long-awaited gameplay features.

The biggest combat tweak is dual-wielding. Players can finally shoot two pistols or revolvers at the same time by picking up the Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree.

For the first time, arm implants like Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System can also be visually customised by visiting new street clinics called Glamdocs.

Anime fans get a new side mission called Clampdown, which works as a prequel to the latest Netflix season. It unlocks after finishing The Heist and a couple of jobs for fixer Wakako, handing out a five-piece outfit based on the anime character King.

Night City drivers can also tune into a fresh radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, playing tracks from both seasons of the show.

Console mods and visual upgrades

Another huge addition is built-in cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can now browse and install community-made mods straight from the game’s menu, alongside PC and Mac users. Support for the Nintendo Switch 2 is also built in for when that version lands.

Beyond combat and mods, the patch packs in plenty of side content. Players can take a guided tour of Night City narrated by its founder, Richard Night, collect 12 new tarot cards, try out new hairstyles or test fresh photo mode poses.

The patch is live now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac App Store releases will follow shortly. On the technical side, it brings Nvidia DLSS 4.5 support, smoother ray tracing, a console field-of-view slider and a batch of bug fixes.
