Version 7.2 introduces Mitya, a five-star Electro character, and Valeriy, a four-star Electro support character

HoYoverse has unveiled Genshin Impact Version 7.2, titled Hour of Ruin, bringing together all seven Archons as Teyvat faces destruction at the hands of the Heavenly Principles.

The October 23 livestream revealed a new chapter of the Snezhnaya storyline, two playable Electro characters, an explorable region and several limited-time events.

The update is expected to arrive on November 4, following the game’s regular six-week release schedule.

The new Archon Quest continues directly after the events of Version 7.1, when the Traveler defeated Ronova, the Ruler of Death.

Following her defeat, the Nails of Retribution scattered across Teyvat begin activating, triggering a phenomenon known as the Hallowing, or Holy Soil phenomenon.

According to Pierro, the process is Celestia‘s ultimate punishment for civilisations that defy the Heavenly Principles. It resets the environment to its original state, the Light Realm, erasing everything in its path.

The trailer warns that the Hallowing could accelerate within 30 days, while Snezhnaya‘s scientists estimate they need another two months to complete Project Mistilteinn, a weapon intended to confront Celestia.

With the crisis spreading across every nation, the Tsaritsa calls an unprecedented summit attended by representatives of all seven nations, including the Archons and Hydro Dragon Sovereign Neuvillette.

The trailer also features a confrontation between the Tsaritsa and Phanes, while Zhongli refers to fulfilling his final contract.

Mitya and Valeriy join the playable roster

Version 7.2 introduces Mitya, a five-star Electro character, and Valeriy, a four-star Electro support character.

Mitya specialises in the Stellar-Conduct reaction, converting Superconduct reactions triggered by his team into Stellar-Conduct and increasing their damage.

His Elemental Skill allows him to deploy a detection device that either provides team-wide Elemental Mastery buffs and off-field damage or consumes energy to launch consecutive Charged Attacks.

Valeriy focuses on shielding allies while boosting Electro damage. His abilities also include artillery attacks and additional bonuses for Stellar-Conduct teams.

The first half of Version 7.2 will feature Mitya and Furina, with Valeriy receiving an increased drop rate. A new five-star Catalyst, Starsealed Edict, will also become available.

The second half brings reruns of Zibai and Linnea, alongside a Natlan Chronicled Wish featuring Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani and Kinich.

New Snezhnaya region and combat events

The update expands Snezhnaya eastwards, introducing Novokitezhgrad, an underground mining city affected by the spreading Blightkristall.

Players will also explore Old Kitezhgrad, the nation’s first city, which has been swallowed by the Shadow Realm.

New exploration mechanics include Prime Ice Constructs, destructible crystals and two shotguns with different abilities. The Pyro version restores health during combat, while the Geo version creates protective barriers.

The region also introduces the Wavebinder boss, which drops character development materials for Mitya.

Meanwhile, the flagship event, The Grand Defense: Defy the Unjust Judgment, will take players across three combat zones to rescue civilians, deliver intelligence and battle monsters affected by the Hallowing.

Players who complete the event’s requirements can invite a four-star character of their choice for free.
