Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s book on Uzbekistan’s reforms unveiled in China

A Chinese-language edition of a book by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, covering the country’s economic reforms, government policies and international relations, was presented in Beijing on 30 October.
Titled Uzbekistan: On the Path to Sustainable Development and Prosperity, the publication brings together Mirziyoyev’s speeches, interviews and articles published in international media between 2021 and 2025, according to Chinese state broadcaster CGTN.
The book outlines Uzbekistan’s approach to economic development, public administration and foreign policy, including how the country has drawn on China’s experience in implementing reforms.
The presentation was organised by Uzbekistan’s embassy in China and the People’s Publishing House of China. Representatives of diplomatic missions, international organisations and China’s political, business and academic communities attended the event.
Speakers included Uzbek presidential adviser Olim Davlatov, Ambassador Farkhod Arziev and senior Chinese Communist Party officials.
How China’s development model influences Uzbekistan
Speaking at the presentation, Eldor Tulyakov, executive director of Uzbekistan’s Development Strategy Centre, discussed the role of Chinese experience in the country’s economic and administrative reforms.
He identified poverty reduction, improvements in public administration, regional cooperation and infrastructure development as areas where Uzbekistan has studied China’s approach.
Tulyakov said China’s development model was particularly relevant because of the economic changes the country had achieved within a relatively short period.
Xu Tao, a researcher at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two countries and their expanding political dialogue.
He also referred to the Uzbek translation of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s book The Governance of China, for which Mirziyoyev wrote the foreword.
Uzbekistan’s president previously instructed government ministers and regional officials to study Xi’s work as part of efforts to learn from China’s governance experience.
Xu said the publication of Mirziyoyev’s book in Chinese would give readers a better understanding of Uzbekistan’s development strategy and approaches to government administration.
