Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra leak reveals iPhone-like camera design

Samsung‘s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a redesigned camera system resembling Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro, according to newly released images of a physical dummy model built from leaked design files.
Technology publication Android Headlines created the model using computer-aided design (CAD) files obtained ahead of the smartphone’s expected launch in early 2027.
The dummy was compared with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro and Google Pixel 11 Pro, revealing changes to the rear cameras while suggesting that Samsung will retain most of its flagship’s current dimensions.
The most noticeable difference is a large horizontal camera bar positioned near the top of the device, replacing Samsung’s familiar vertical camera arrangement.
The new layout also resembles the camera design used by some Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, although it could also address a practical problem affecting Samsung’s existing flagship.
According to Android Authority, the camera bump on the Galaxy S26 Ultra can obstruct magnetic chargers and battery packs, sometimes causing poor alignment, slower charging, and excessive heat.
Moving the cameras higher could create additional space for Qi2 magnetic accessories, allowing chargers and external batteries to attach more securely.
Galaxy S27 Ultra could lose one of its cameras
The dummy model measures 163.76 × 78.25 × 7.97 mm, making it slightly larger and thicker than the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which measures 163.6 × 78.1 × 7.9 mm.
Despite the redesigned camera housing, Samsung appears to be keeping the S Pen stylus. The dummy retains its dedicated slot along the bottom edge.
Earlier leaks suggested that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could also abandon its dedicated 3x telephoto camera, reducing the number of rear cameras from four to three.
The rumoured configuration includes a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
These specifications remain unconfirmed, and the physical model does not establish what hardware the finished smartphone will contain.
Another consequence of the redesigned camera housing is that existing Galaxy S26 Ultra protective cases will probably not fit the new model.
