Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage has revealed that he can no longer live in his $10.5mn Malibu mansion following an unusual incident that has disrupted his family life.
The 62-year-old spoke about his situation during a panel at Los Angeles Comic Con on 31 October, explaining that he has been staying in hotels for several weeks.
«I’m currently a little bit homeless,» Cage told the audience. «Something happened to my house in Malibu, so I’m just sort of living in hotels.»
The situation has also changed his Halloween plans. Cage had hoped to welcome trick-or-treaters at his home but instead planned to take his four-year-old daughter, August, around Santa Monica.
Cage purchased the Malibu property in 2024. He has not said when he expects to return home.
What happened to Nicolas Cage’s Malibu home?

Photographs taken after the collapse showed broken concrete and asphalt falling towards the beach below Cage’s house.
The disruption began on 8 September, when a massive sinkhole opened along Sea Level Drive in Malibu following unusually high tides and dangerous waves associated with Hurricane Marie.
The ground collapse destroyed part of Cage’s driveway and spread into the neighbouring road, cutting off access to surrounding properties.
According to Malibu city officials, the hole measured approximately 25 feet (7.6 metres) deep and 60 feet (18.3 metres) long.
Authorities declared a local emergency and restricted access to 31 nearby homes. Seven properties were considered unsafe because of the collapse, while another 24 lost safe vehicle access, including for emergency services.
The Oscar-winning actor is known for films including Leaving Las Vegas, National Treasure and Face/Off. He is also set to portray American football coach John Madden in the upcoming biographical film Madden.
