In response to fans who have criticised her relationship with ex-BigBang member T.O.P., South Korean singer and actress Nana has stated that she is not to blame and that she should not apologise for her private life.
In a series of Instagram Stories posted on 5 November, Nana addressed people who had attacked her since she and T.O.P confirmed their relationship in October.
«What great wrong have I done? Have I caused you any harm? Have I done something morally wrong?» she asked.
Nana said she spent 17 years working hard in the entertainment industry and always tried to fulfil her responsibilities, even during difficult periods in her personal life.
She also thanked fans who supported her throughout her career, including those who continued waiting for her during breaks from public activities.
However, she criticised those who claimed to be fans while posting hurtful comments about her dating choices.
«My relationship and my decision to make it public are part of my private life,» she wrote. «I don’t believe I have anything to apologise for.»
Nana added that she felt sorry for genuine supporters who had been hurt by the controversy and asked critics to stop targeting them.

Why Nana and T.O.P’s relationship sparked backlash
The couple confirmed their relationship on 2 October after reports revealed they began dating around June. They first met while filming the music video for T.O.P’s song «Studio54», released earlier this year.
The relationship drew mixed reactions, partly because of T.O.P’s previous controversies, including his 2017 conviction for marijuana use.
More criticism followed when Nana accompanied T.O.P to a fan-organised birthday café event in early November.
Some fans were already unhappy with the rapper’s treatment of his supporters. The operators of a long-running fan site dedicated to T.O.P recently announced its closure following disagreements over fan events and other issues.
His appearance at the birthday café with Nana added to the dispute, with some fans arguing that bringing his girlfriend to an event organised by supporters was inappropriate.
T.O.P previously apologised to fans following the closure of the fan site, thanking them for supporting him through difficult periods.
Nana, meanwhile, made clear that she would not apologise for dating him. She ended her message by promising to remember the love and support of her genuine fans and repay them through her work.
Her statement also received supportive reactions online, with fans praising her for defending her right to have a relationship without public approval.
