Mirziyoyev Meets with WTO Director-General to Discuss Uzbekistan’s Membership Progress

The COP29 Climate Change Conference served as the platform for discussions between Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on advancing Uzbekistan’s membership in the WTO.
Both leaders welcomed the steady progress in negotiations and highlighted ongoing efforts to align Uzbekistan’s laws with WTO standards, including steps to phase out export subsidies.
They also discussed training programs for Uzbek specialists in international trade and explored measures to support Uzbekistan’s goal of completing accession talks in the near future.
