The Chief of Staff to the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, has announced that Bishkek will host the second edition of the Zakovat Asian Cup.
The event will take place on August 20, bringing together national teams from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Both delegations will feature some of the strongest players in the intellectual movement.
«Bishkek, get ready for us! On August 20 we are coming to you with the Zakovat Asian Cup II. I am glad that Zakovat is becoming a game that erases borders and unites the best minds of Central Asia,» Mirziyoyeva wrote.
The press secretary to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Askat Alagozov, also confirmed the tournament on his Facebook page.
«In order to strengthen cooperation in the intellectual field, the Kyrgyz Republic has gladly accepted the baton of hosting Zakovat tournaments,» he wrote.
Zakovat is an international intellectual movement that first emerged in Uzbekistan. Created in 2001, the game was originally designed as a national version of the well-known Russian quiz What? Where? When?.
The format challenges participants to work together as a team and find the correct answers to questions within a short period of time, testing both knowledge and quick thinking.
The movement has grown rapidly in recent years. In 2023 alone, membership expanded by 500,000, with more than 7,000 games organised and over 156,000 teams taking part.
Under Zakovat’s banner, international competitions have already been held in cities including London, Astana, Almaty, Dushanbe and Berlin.
