Tax Committee Received 22,000 Complaints in a Month over Refusal to Accept Terminal Payments

In Uzbekistan, the number of complaints about sellers refusing to accept payments via terminals or issue receipts amounts to tens of thousands. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee Jakhongir Abdiev during a press conference on March 27.
In February alone, about 22,000 complaints were received. Inspections showed that in most cases the violations were confirmed. Sellers simply refuse to use terminals, even when they have them.
Some entrepreneurs also do not accept bank cards or force customers to transfer money via P2P. About 15–20% of complaints are related to card-to-card transfers.
Abdiev noted that fines for such violations currently reach up to 5 mln soums. If the fine is paid within a month, it is reduced to 2.5 mln soums.
Some entrepreneurs continue to violate the rules despite the fines. Therefore, the authorities are considering increasing fines and tightening responsibility, Abdiev said.
Most often, complaints concern the failure to issue receipts, followed by refusal to accept cards. There are also cases where prices are artificially increased when paying by card.
