A resurfaced video showing a young woman appearing «possessed» has gone viral again, but the disturbing footage is now being used to highlight the real dangers of drink spiking.

The clip shows Millie Taplin, then 18, in a state of apparent paralysis, with her jaw locked and hands contorted into claw-like positions. While the scene has drawn comparisons online to The Exorcist, the incident was in fact a serious medical emergency.

The ordeal took place in 2021 at the Moo Moo nightclub in Essex, during Taplin’s first night out after turning 18. She had accepted a vodka and lemonade from a man she had been speaking to, but within minutes of taking just a few sips, she began to feel unwell.

Taplin reported feeling hot and nauseous before her vision blurred and she lost control of her movements. She was rushed to hospital after her condition rapidly deteriorated.

Her mother, Clair Taplin, filmed the incident to raise awareness of drink spiking. She later described the scene as resembling something from a horror film, saying her daughter looked «possessed» and completely unresponsive.

Despite her condition, Taplin later revealed she remained conscious throughout the ordeal but was unable to move or respond.

«You’re so aware, but I couldn’t do anything about it,» she said, describing the experience as being trapped in her own body.

Medical staff suspected her drink had been tampered with using a combination of substances, one causing paralysis and another intended to induce unconsciousness, resulting in the severe physical symptoms captured on video.

Taplin recovered after several hours in hospital, though she said she felt disoriented the following day. The case has since become a stark warning about the risks of accepting drinks from strangers, as the video continues to circulate widely online.
