Uzbekistan’s National Median Salary Dips 5.6% in Q1 2026

According to a recent report by the recruitment platform hh.uz, the median offered salary across Uzbekistan fell by 5.6% year-on-year to 6.29 mln soums ($516) between January and March 2026.
Analysts at the firm emphasised that this metric provides a far more accurate reflection of the current job market than average earnings.
«The median salary remains a more objective indicator than average pay as it avoids data distortion caused by extreme values (very high or very low salaries) and shows the exact central value,» a statement from hh.uz explained.
The capital city experienced the most dramatic surge in financial remuneration. Job offers in Tashkent skyrocketed by an impressive 55.6% over the past year to reach a high of 10.5 mln soums ($861). Fergana also saw a significant boost with median wages increasing by 52% to hit 7.6 mln soums ($623).
Navoi maintained a relatively strong wage level of 8 mln soums ($656) despite suffering a 20% decline compared to the previous year. However, other major regions faced severe financial contractions. Samarkand recorded a staggering 60% plummet to 4 mln soums ($328) while figures in Termez dropped by 16.7% to settle at 5 mln soums ($410).
Elsewhere in the republic, wage growth was much more modest. Jobseekers in Andijan, Karshi and Bukhara saw median offers rise to 6.98 mln ($573) (+8.9%), 6.5 mln ($533) (+8.3%) and 6.52 mln soums ($535) (+7.7%) respectively. Meanwhile, earning potential in both Namangan and Nukus remained completely stagnant at 6 mln soums ($492).
