The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul has issued a formal statement regarding the death of Uzbek national Nozima Kim in South Korea following significant uproar and speculation across social media platforms.

Diplomats confirmed that they have been working closely with South Korean law enforcement from the very first day to determine the exact circumstances and causes surrounding the woman’s passing.

Officials added that the deceased’s mother recently travelled to South Korea. Upon her arrival she held a meeting with her legal representative, embassy staff and the local police officers in Pyeongtaek who are currently spearheading the investigation.

Forensic findings and police statements

Initial investigations and forensic examinations yielded no evidence of foul play. Authorities presented the grieving mother with CCTV footage from both her daughter’s residence and the medical facilities where she was subsequently taken.

A comprehensive secondary review conducted by South Korea’s National Forensic Service officially concluded that Kim took her own life. Detailed DNA testing, blood analyses and fingerprint checks revealed absolutely no traces of toxins or physical trauma.

«The Korean police also emphasised that images circulating on social networks allegedly relating to the deceased have no connection to the investigative materials, and their distribution is prohibited by the country’s laws,» the diplomatic mission stressed in its official release.

Addressing the online rumours

During a previous interview with the local news outlet Qalampir.uz, the mother stated she was informed of her daughter’s death in early February and initially refused to believe it was suicide. Concurrently, unverified rumours began spreading rapidly across the Uzbek internet space suggesting the young woman’s body displayed severe physical injuries.

Reports indicate that shortly before her death, Nozima Kim had a dispute with a male acquaintance originally from Namangan. Following this altercation she reportedly telephoned one of his friends who later discovered her body.
