Tashkent to Develop 18 New Tourist Streets Following Successful Gastro-Avenue Launch

Officials in Tashkent are planning to develop a further 18 dedicated tourist streets across the city this year. The ambitious urban expansion was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a recent tour of the newly revitalised Uzbekiston Ovozi gastronomic avenue.
The bustling food street officially opened to the public following an extensive reconstruction project that wrapped up in the autumn of 2025. Conceptualised by design firms City Makers and People Architects, the major overhaul required a total investment of 40 bn soums ($3.3 mln).
Spanning 2.1 kilometres, the upgraded thoroughfare now features comfortable pedestrian walkways, cycle lanes, sports facilities, children’s play areas and dedicated relaxation zones.
The revamped location is currently home to 165 commercial establishments. Taking advantage of the area’s growing popularity, 89 of these entrepreneurs have already transitioned to a round-the-clock operational model to cater to late-night visitors.
During his visit the president was also briefed on the broader development of tourist spaces throughout the capital. Last year 26 streets were transitioned into 24/7 zones following a 540 bn soum ($44.9 mln) investment in landscaping and infrastructure.
These urban development projects have facilitated the opening of more than 1,100 new retail and service outlets whilst successfully attracting 26 foreign brands to the Tashkent market.
