Max Verstappen is preparing to make his debut at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring this weekend. The event runs from May 14 to 17 and will see the driver compete for the overall win at the Nordschleife.

He will share a Mercedes GT3 with co-drivers Jules Gounon, Dani Juncadella and Lucas Auer.

The track schedule involves a multi-stage qualifying format before the main endurance event begins. By rearranging the standard race weekend structure, organisers have built a schedule that demands consistency across both day and night sessions.

Action gets underway on Thursday with two practice segments. The first runs from 13:15 to 15:15 local time. A second session begins at 20:00 to give Verstappen and the rest of the field a chance to navigate the circuit in darkness.

On Friday, the focus shifts entirely to grid placement. The premier GT3 cars are automatically entered into the top-tier qualifying stages. The schedule for the shootout is broken down into three parts:

  • 10:45: Top Qualifying 1 begins.
  • 11:05: The fastest 20 entrants from the previous stage move into Top Qualifying 2.
  • 12:00: A final general practice session bridges the gap between the shootouts.
  • 13:35: The top 12 cars compete for pole position in Top Qualifying 3.

The 24-hour race itself commences on Saturday at 15:00. The chequered flag will fall at exactly the same time on Sunday to determine the winner.

Kursiv also reports that the tickets to the race were fully sold out for the first time ever.
