FBI Renews Hunt for Former U.S. Intelligence Officer Accused of Spying for Iran

The FBI has intensified efforts to locate former U.S. Air Force intelligence specialist Monica Witt, announcing a $200,000 reward for information leading to her arrest and prosecution on espionage charges linked to Iran.
Witt, a former counterintelligence officer and special agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, was indicted in 2019 for allegedly transmitting classified US national defense information to the Iranian government after defecting to Iran in 2013.
According to U.S. authorities, Witt had access to highly sensitive intelligence, including the identities of undercover American operatives. Prosecutors allege she later helped Iranian intelligence services target former U.S. colleagues and endangered American personnel stationed abroad.
The FBI said Witt, who reportedly uses aliases including Fatemah Zahra and Narges Witt, is believed to still reside in Iran and may continue supporting Iranian intelligence operations.
The renewed appeal comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. FBI officials said they believe someone may have information about Witt’s whereabouts and urged the public to come forward.
