Kyrgyzstan is now the third nation in Central Asia to gain access to Starlink’s satellite internet network. This development was recently confirmed by coverage maps on the company’s official website.

The expansion is set to continue across the region as both Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are slated to receive the service later this year.

Local news outlet Kaktus.Media reports that Kyrgyz subscribers are already successfully testing the network. Users are being allocated local IP addresses while their internet traffic is routed directly from space.

Elcat is acting as the exclusive operator for Starlink within the country. Representatives from the telecommunications firm highlighted that this technology will deliver high-speed web access to isolated communities and help link vital public facilities to essential digital services.

Created by SpaceX, Starlink relies on a massive constellation of small satellites positioned in low Earth orbit to provide global broadband coverage. This innovative setup is particularly beneficial for rural areas that currently lack traditional fibre-optic infrastructure or reliable mobile data networks. Today the system operates on an impressive scale, spanning over 160 countries and delivering stable connectivity to more than 10 mln users worldwide.
