Uzbekistan Joins Indonesia and Japan in New Education Partnership

Karakalpak State University in Uzbekistan has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesia’s Sakuranesia Foundation to expand cooperation in education, research, cultural exchange, and human resource development involving Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Japan.
The agreement was signed in Nukus and aims to strengthen academic collaboration through student exchanges, joint research projects, and multidisciplinary initiatives in agriculture, environmental studies, arts, culture and social innovation.
Representatives of the Sakuranesia Foundation said the partnership could help create new educational and cultural networks across Asia by connecting universities and research institutions from the three countries.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to deepen international cooperation in higher education and build stronger people-to-people ties between Central Asia and Southeast Asia. Uzbekistan and Indonesia have previously expressed interest in expanding university partnerships and academic exchanges.
University officials said the agreement is expected to serve as a platform for long-term cooperation and closer international relations through education and cultural dialogue.
