Samarkand Hosts Eco Expo as Uzbekistan Seeks Green Investment

Eco Expo Central Asia 2026 opened in Samarkand on June 2, bringing together government officials, investors, businesses and environmental experts as Uzbekistan seeks to attract financing for green development projects. The exhibition is being held alongside the Eighth Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), one of the world’s largest environmental finance forums.
The three-day event is expected to attract around 10,000 participants from Uzbekistan and abroad, featuring more than 68 exhibition pavilions and 20 startup showcases from Central Asian countries. Discussions will focus on renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, water management, waste recycling, green finance and climate adaptation.
Organizers say the expo is designed to connect local environmental initiatives with international investors and donors. Regional authorities from across Uzbekistan have prepared project proposals aimed at improving resource efficiency, strengthening climate resilience and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The event comes as Uzbekistan accelerates efforts to develop its green economy and attract investment into environmental technologies. Representatives from international organizations, development banks and private companies are expected to explore partnership opportunities during the exhibition.
Eco Expo Central Asia runs through June 4 at the Silk Road Samarkand complex.
