Uzbekistan and Hong Kong Agree to Introduce 30-Day Mutual Visa-Free Travel

Citizens of Uzbekistan and Hong Kong will soon be able to visit each other’s territories without requiring a visa for stays of up to 30 days. This development in travel policy emerged from recent high-level talks designed to deepen bilateral ties.
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu shared the news following successful discussions with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov. During their meeting, the two leaders exchanged a formal verbal note to seal their commitment to the initiative.
Both administrations are keen to see the new travel rules take effect swiftly. Lee Ka-chiu confirmed that government representatives will immediately start coordinating the practical mechanisms required to bring the agreement into force as quickly as possible.
Saidov highlighted that eliminating visa requirements will create substantial advantages for both jurisdictions. He expects the open-border policy to unlock fresh opportunities for commercial ventures, stimulate international tourism, enhance cultural exchanges and foster a closer relationship between the citizens of both regions.
Beyond easing travel restrictions, the diplomatic meeting provided an excellent opportunity to discuss a wider strategic alliance. The officials explored potential collaborations across a variety of rapidly growing sectors including investment, finance, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, transport and logistics.
To ensure long-term mutual prosperity, the leaders also placed great emphasis on expanding interregional networks and championing joint economic projects that will drive future growth for both sides.
