Iran and Israel Halt Strikes after Trump Calls for Ceasefire

Iran and Israel have announced a halt to military operations after a fresh round of missile and air strikes raised fears of a broader regional conflict. The pause came after US President Donald Trump publicly urged both sides to «immediately stop shooting» and return to ceasefire negotiations.
The latest violence marked the most significant direct confrontation between the two countries since a ceasefire was established earlier this year. Iran launched missile attacks in response to Israeli military actions linked to Hezbollah in Lebanon, while Israel carried out retaliatory strikes on targets inside Iran.
Following Trump’s intervention, officials in both Tehran and Jerusalem signalled a willingness to de-escalate. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would «hold fire,» while Iranian military leaders announced the suspension of offensive operations against Israel.
Despite the pause, tensions remain high. Iran warned it could resume attacks if Israel continues operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, while Israel has maintained that it reserves the right to respond to any future threats.
Diplomatic efforts are continuing, with Trump claiming both sides are seeking an immediate ceasefire and that negotiations toward a broader peace agreement are progressing. Analysts caution, however, that the situation remains fragile and could quickly deteriorate if hostilities resume.
