Apple’s highly anticipated WWDC 2026 concluded, bringing with it a tidal wave of software innovations. While hardware took a backseat this year, the tech giant delivered massive artificial intelligence integrations, robust safety tools and significant design tweaks across its entire ecosystem.

The arrival of Siri AI

The undisputed star of the keynote was Siri AI. Apple has completely rebuilt its voice assistant from the ground up, transforming it into a context-aware powerhouse capable of holding natural conversations.

For the first time, Siri AI gets its own dedicated application. Conversations sync seamlessly via iCloud across your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. The assistant can now cross-reference your personal data, meaning it can pull restaurant recommendations from Messages, locate specific photos or find hotel booking numbers buried deep within your emails.

Furthermore, Visual Intelligence is expanding. On the iPhone, a new Siri mode integrated directly into the Camera app allows users to point their lens at objects to gather information, translate text or execute tasks like splitting a bill via Apple Cash.

macOS 27 Golden Gate and iOS 27

Apple officially revealed that its next Mac operating system will be called macOS 27 Golden Gate. The update focuses heavily on deep AI integration, enhanced Spotlight search and tighter continuity with mobile devices. Notably, this release marks the official end of support for older Intel-based Macs.

Across both iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, Apple is refining its interface. The translucent «Liquid Glass» design language introduced last year has received a major tune-up. Users now have access to a dedicated slider in their settings, allowing them to adjust the visual effect from ultra-clear to heavily tinted. Apple also boasts significant performance boosts, claiming that apps will launch up to 30% faster and AirDrop transfers will be considerably quicker.

Smarter browsing with Safari

Safari is receiving a major facelift powered by Apple Intelligence. The browser can now automatically sort dozens of open tabs into distinct topics.

A standout addition is the new «Notify Me» feature, which acts as a built-in page monitor that can alert users to price drops or website updates. Additionally, a futuristic tool called «Describe an Extension» allows users to generate bespoke browser extensions simply by explaining what they want the tool to do using natural language.

Advanced photo editing

Apple’s Image Playground is getting a serious upgrade. Users can now generate photorealistic images from text prompts and create AI-generated Lock Screen wallpapers.
The Photos app benefits from powerful new editing tools.

A «Spatial Reframing» feature allows photographers to adjust a picture’s composition after it has been taken. Meanwhile, the new «Extend» tool lets users expand the borders of an image, with AI seamlessly filling in the newly created space to match the original background.

Enhanced child safety and screen time

Beyond artificial intelligence, Apple placed a massive emphasis on user safety. The company introduced sweeping changes to parental controls, making it easier for families to manage digital well-being.

New child accounts will feature age-appropriate protections enabled by default. A feature called «Ask to Browse» requires children to request permission before accessing unfamiliar websites. Furthermore, Apple’s Communication Safety tool, which already blurs nudity in messages, will now actively intervene to block gore and violent content.

The Screen Time dashboard has also been completely redesigned. Parents now have an intuitive, at-a-glance view of their child’s device usage and can instantly set daily allowances across entertainment, games and social media apps.
