Iran Launches Missiles at U.S. Base in Jordan after American Strikes

Jordanian air defenses intercepted several missiles as Tehran retaliated against recent US military operations in the region

Iran fired missiles at a military base in Jordan hosting U.S. forces on Wednesday, escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington after American airstrikes targeted Iranian military sites near the Strait of Hormuz. Jordanian air defences intercepted several incoming missiles, and authorities reported no casualties.

The attack came a day after the United States struck Iranian air defense systems, radar installations, and command facilities, which Washington described as a response to recent threats against U.S. forces and commercial shipping in the region.

Iran said the missile launch targeted the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, a facility used by American military aircraft. Tehran condemned the US strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and signaled that further retaliatory measures remain possible.

The latest exchange marks one of the most serious escalations between the two countries in recent months and raises concerns about a broader regional conflict. Bahrain and Kuwait also reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones aimed at US-linked targets.

U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would «have to pay the price» for the attacks, while Iranian officials said they would reconsider diplomatic engagement with Washington following the latest strikes.
