Alisher Usmanov, Anton Zlatopolsky, Eduard Iloyan and Olesya Gidrat received the prize for Best Series Producer at TEFI Awards for the television drama Chronicles of the Russian Revolution.
The critically acclaimed programme also secured the title of Best Historical Series while its creator Andrei Konchalovsky was named Best Director.
Filming for the ambitious project took place between the autumn of 2022 and the summer of 2023. Production utilised dedicated film studios as well as on-location shoots across Moscow and St Petersburg. The sheer scale of the historical drama frequently required up to 1,000 cast and crew members to work on set simultaneously before its official premiere in October last year.
A nation in turmoil
The overarching narrative charts the dramatic collapse of the Romanov dynasty, the subsequent rise of a new political regime and the profound impact these seismic shifts had on those living through the era.
The storyline kicks off in 1905 and follows Mikhail Prokhorov, a protagonist tasked with leading a special security division designed to protect Tsar Nicholas II from radical revolutionaries. His primary adversary is Ariadna Slavina, who orchestrates a series of provocations against the Russian autocrat.
As Prokhorov battles the insurgent forces, he becomes entangled in a complex web of political conspiracies. The series weaves these fictional struggles with the fates of prominent real-life historical figures including Grigori Rasputin, Pyotr Stolypin, Leon Trotsky and Vladimir Lenin.
Broadly, the sweeping plot covers the immense societal upheaval caused by two separate revolutions, the devastating impact of the First World War and the ultimate establishment of the Soviet Union.
