Russian Tourist Numbers in Uzbekistan Jump 30% in Early 2026

Uzbekistan has experienced a significant influx of Russian tourists during the first five months of 2026. According to official data provided to Kursiv Uzbekistan by the national Tourism Committee, 465,800 Russian tourists travelled to the country between January and May.
This figure represents a striking 30% increase compared to the same timeframe last year when 334,200 Russian citizens visited the republic.
The May holiday boost
The upward trajectory in visitor numbers was particularly pronounced during the traditional May public holidays. A closer look at the monthly data highlights a sharp year-on-year rise in spring arrivals from the Russian Federation.
In May 2025 the country recorded 94,200 Russian arrivals. In May 2026 that figure surged to 124,000 visitors over the course of the month.
This sustained growth highlights Uzbekistan’s increasing appeal as a preferred destination for Russian travellers seeking vibrant culture, historical landmarks and accessible international flights.
A broader tourism boom
The impressive figures from the Russian market reflect a much wider period of success for Uzbekistan’s entire hospitality sector.
By the beginning of June 2026 the country had welcomed a total of more than 1.3 mln international guests from around the globe. This overall influx marks a solid 27.3% year-on-year increase, demonstrating the continued success of ongoing state initiatives designed to stimulate the national travel industry and expand global tourism ties.
