The 2026 FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Chess Championships have officially concluded in Hong Kong, with the Uzbekistan national squad successfully securing third place in the highly competitive blitz discipline.

The Uzbek chess players delivered a strong performance to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament. In the quarter-finals, the team successfully overcame WR Chess to secure their spot in the next round. While they faced a tough defeat in the semi-finals against Dragon Chilling, the squad quickly bounced back. In the crucial playoff for third place, Uzbekistan confidently defeated the Hexamind Chess Team to claim the bronze medals.

This impressive podium finish earned the Uzbekistan delegation a notable prize fund of €30,000.

The overall world championship title went to Dragon Chilling. The Chinese collective dominated the final matchup, defeating Endgame AI 5-1 in two consecutive matches to take home the €75,000 grand prize. As the tournament runners-up, Endgame AI received a €50,000 reward for their silver medal finish.

Following their successful campaign abroad, the Uzbekistan chess delegation is scheduled to return home to Tashkent on Monday June 22. The team is expected to touch down at 18:40 local time aboard flight MU6037.
