Ronaldo Scores a Goal for Portugal in Match Against Uzbekistan

Cristiano Ronaldo silenced his doubters, turning home a sixth-minute opener to cap off an electric start for Portugal in their World Cup Group K match against Uzbekistan.
The European giants raced out of the blocks from the opening whistle in Houston, pinning Fabio Cannavaro’s side deep inside their own half and dominating the early exchanges.
Portugal signaled their attacking intent within the opening two minutes when Bruno Fernandes drove forward to whip a dangerous ball into the penalty area, forcing an immediate clearance from the Uzbek backline. Just sixty seconds later, the Manchester United playmaker orchestrating the midfield created space before unleashing a powerful shot that took a slight deflection and whistled over the crossbar.
Uzbekistan’s defence found themselves under relentless pressure as Portugal’s full-backs pushed high up the pitch. In the fourth minute, Nuno Mendes burst down the left flank to deliver a pinpoint cross that narrowly evaded Ronaldo, who could only get the faintest of touches on an overhit ball.
Moments later, another probing delivery from Fernandes was bravely headed clear by young Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov as the Central Asian side desperately tried to weather the early storm.
However, the deadlock was broken in the sixth minute. Ronaldo made amends for his earlier near-miss, finding the back of the net to snap his recent poor run of form and give Portugal a deserved 1-0 lead, leaving Uzbekistan with a mountain to climb early on.
