Sinopec Joins $6.1Bn Sustainable Aviation Fuel Project in Uzbekistan

China’s energy and chemicals giant Sinopec has secured a key engineering role in a major sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project in Uzbekistan valued at approximately $6.1 bn.
The company will participate in the development of the large-scale SAF facility being advanced by Allied Green Ammonia. The project aims to produce sustainable aviation fuel and other low-carbon products using renewable energy, supporting global efforts to reduce emissions in the aviation sector.
The planned complex is expected to become one of the largest green fuel projects in Central Asia and forms part of Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment and expand its renewable energy industry.
Project developers say the facility will help position Uzbekistan as an emerging hub for sustainable fuel production while creating jobs, supporting technology transfer and strengthening the country’s role in the global energy transition.
Construction timelines and further technical details are expected to be announced as the project moves into its next development phase.
