Following the dramatic capture of King's Landing, Episode 3 promises fresh alliances, growing tensions and another pivotal chapter in the Dance of the Dragons

The war for the Iron Throne is set to escalate further in Episode 3 of House of the Dragon Season 3, with HBO’s latest teaser hinting at new political manoeuvres, shifting alliances and fresh battles following the dramatic events of Episode 2.

After reclaiming King’s Landing, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen now faces the challenge of consolidating power while dealing with growing unrest inside the capital. The newly released trailer suggests that victory has not brought stability, as tensions continue to rise among both the Blacks and the Greens.

The preview also indicates that Alicent Hightower is struggling with the aftermath of recent losses, while Daemon Targaryen appears ready to push the conflict into an even bloodier phase. Several scenes tease military preparations across Westeros, suggesting that the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons is only beginning to reach its most destructive chapters.

Although HBO has kept most plot details under wraps, the teaser hints at further political intrigue, dragon warfare and difficult decisions for Rhaenyra as she attempts to defend her newly won throne. Fans have also speculated about additional references to the wider Targaryen legacy after Episode 2 sparked discussion online.

Season 3 consists of eight episodes and has already been renewed for a fourth and final season. Episode 3 will premiere on 5 July in the United States on HBO and HBO Max, before becoming available on 6 July in the UK via Sky Atlantic, NOW and HBO Max.
