Pop sensation Taylor Swift and National Football League player Travis Kelce have reportedly exchanged vows. According to Page Six the couple, both 36, married in front of an incredibly intimate group of loved ones.
While the exact time and location of the ceremony remain a closely guarded secret reporters noted that Swift’s private jet recently spent time in Nashville where she spent the early days of her career.
Neither the singer’s publicist nor the couple themselves have commented publicly on the reports.
Madison Square Garden transformed
While the private ceremony was kept under wraps an enormous celebration is currently unfolding at Madison Square Garden. Sources indicate that a 100-person gathering was held at the iconic New York venue on Thursday ahead of a much grander event for 1,000 guests scheduled for Friday.
The couple has already spread the joy across the city with Swift’s publicity team confirming on Thursday that the pair had generously donated $26 mln to various charities in New York and further afield.
Preparations at the arena have been intense. Deliveries of lavish foliage and boxes marked «lobster meat» were seen being hauled inside to transform the space. The venue’s public calendar is currently clear of any bookings until Tuesday which is an incredibly rare six-day pause for a usually bustling summer schedule.
A star-studded guest list
Security around the arena is exceptionally tight with police erecting barriers, closing adjacent streets and blocking pedestrian walkways. Convoys of vehicles with tinted windows have been photographed slipping into the venue.
Eagle-eyed onlookers have already spotted a host of celebrities donning glamorous attire in the vicinity including actors Bradley Cooper and Lena Dunham, sports broadcaster Erin Andrews and music producer Jack Antonoff.
The high-profile guest list is expected to include Swift’s closest confidantes such as Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Emma Stone and Gigi Hadid. Furthermore television presenter Graham Norton was recently pictured arriving at JFK airport. Last year Swift appeared on Norton’s BBC chat show and playfully promised him an invite when he asked about her future wedding plans.
Those lucky enough to be on the guest list are bound by strict secrecy. A sign at the entrance for an unnamed event spanning from the 29th of June to the 3rd of July warned attendees that their photos might be taken and required them to maintain total confidentiality regarding the hosts and other guests.
«America’s Royal Wedding» amidst city chaos
The union between the singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been highly anticipated since they announced their engagement in August. Often dubbed ‘America’s royal wedding’ the celebrations are taking place during an exceptionally busy period for New York.
The festivities coincide with a major national holiday weekend. Tall ships are sailing into the harbour on Saturday to mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and a World Cup football match is scheduled in nearby New Jersey for Sunday.
The city is also battling a severe heat emergency. When questioned about the massive event New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani humorously used the situation to remind the public about heat safety.
«If you happen to be getting married at MSG, you will be staying inside and staying cool, and I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large,» he told reporters.
While the street closures and intense security around the major commuter hub have frustrated some locals dedicated fans remain overjoyed. For supporters like Utah resident Tara Rosales the disruption is a small price to pay.
Embracing the excitement of the weekend she simply stated that Swift is never an inconvenience and can do whatever she pleases.
