Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov has emerged victorious at the Naroditsky Memorial Rapid 2026 tournament which recently took place in the American city of Charlotte. The talented chess player secured the championship title following a tense final tie-break where he successfully outplayed his Indian opponent Aravindh Chithambaram.

Following the conclusion of the main stage of the competition Sindarov had accumulated an impressive six points out of a possible seven. This stellar performance meant he shared the top spot on the leaderboard with Chithambaram.

With the two competitors deadlocked the ultimate fate of the trophy had to be decided in an additional tie-break match. During this high-pressure playoff the Uzbek representative showcased superior tactical prowess to defeat his rival and claim the top podium spot.

The newly established competition is an official part of both the FIDE Circuit and the US Chess Grand Prix calendar. The event boasts a substantial overall prize fund of 50,000 dollars. As a reward for his spectacular tournament victory Javokhir Sindarov took home the primary cash prize of 3,000 dollars.
