According to the Tax Committee residents of Uzbekistan who have installed domestic solar panels will receive electricity subsidies covering April and May of 2026. The total volume of these government financial payouts is set to reach an impressive 156.1 bn soums ($13.04 mln).

The financial rewards are being distributed across the nation with several areas leading the way in surplus green energy generation. The Khorezm region is slated to receive the highest amount at 29.1 bn soums ($2.43 mln). This is closely followed by the Bukhara region with allocations of 27.1 bn soums ($2.26 mln) while citizens in Karakalpakstan will see payouts totalling 19.1 bn soums ($1.60 mln).

The Solar Home scheme

These regional payouts are a direct result of the Solar Home programme which has now been active across the republic for three years. Under this eco-friendly initiative the state compensates citizens at a set rate of 1,000 soums for every extra kilowatt-hour of electricity their home solar panels feed back into the national grid.

The initiative already demonstrated significant momentum earlier in the year. During the first quarter alone the scheme paid out nearly 74 bn soums ($6.18 mln) to participating households. Within that initial period Bukhara residents claimed 16.5 bn soums ($1.38 mln), the Khorezm region received 13.3 bn soums ($1.11 mln) and Kashkadarya locals took home 9.1 bn soums ($760,000).

National renewable energy milestones

On a broader industrial scale the country is making remarkable strides in its transition towards renewable power. Data released by the Ministry of Energy indicates that by June 8 this year national solar and wind installations had collectively produced a massive 5 bn kilowatt-hours of electricity. This impressive national total was primarily driven by solar power plants which generated 3 bn kilowatt-hours alongside wind farms that contributed 1.9 bn kilowatt-hours.

The steady increase in green energy production has delivered substantial environmental and economic benefits for the state. By relying on these renewable sources the nation successfully saved 1.3 bn cubic metres of natural gas and prevented approximately 2.9 mln tonnes of harmful pollutants from entering the atmosphere.
