Streamer IShowSpeed Meets European Billionaires at World Cup

American YouTube personality IShowSpeed experienced a comedic clash of worlds during the Spain versus France World Cup semi-final when two European billionaires approached him for a selfie, an interaction highlighted in a social media post.

During his live broadcast from the VIP hospitality section at the Munich Football Arena, the internet star was stopped by Banco Santander Executive Chairman Ana Botin and Mercadona President Juan Roig. Unaware of their immense corporate influence, the 19-year-old creator initially treated the high-profile executives as ordinary fans seeking a photograph.

The encounter quickly went viral across various social media platforms, highlighting the bizarre modern intersection of traditional corporate power, digital celebrity and internet youth culture. While Botin and Roig rank among the most powerful economic figures in Europe with a combined net worth in the billions, the young content creator completely eclipsed them in online metrics and global recognition.

A billionaire business pitch

To bridge the obvious cultural gap, Botin introduced herself and her companion using familiar American corporate equivalents. She confidently described Roig as «the Walmart of Spain» and referred to herself as «the JPMorgan of Europe». Roig oversees Spain’s dominant grocery chain while Botin leads one of the most prominent retail banking institutions in the world.

Taking full advantage of the streamer’s massive live audience, the banking executive seamlessly transitioned into a spontaneous business pitch. She encouraged the YouTuber to open a checking account with OpenBank, Santander’s digital banking subsidiary that is currently preparing for a major expansion into the United States market.

Pitching the financial product directly on the live stream, Botin highlighted a competitive 4% deposit interest rate. She even attempted to appeal to the tech-savvy audience by comparing her brand’s name to the prominent artificial intelligence company OpenAI, quipping that it was «OpenBank like OpenAI».

The unexpected interaction delighted viewers who found immense humour in the juxtaposition of traditional European wealth seeking validation from a chaotic teenage live streamer.
