CENTCOM Confirms U.S. Troops Killed and Missing After Iranian Gulf Attacks
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has released updated information on American military casualties following recent Iranian attacks in the Gulf, confirming that two U.S. service members have died while another remains unaccounted for after an attack in Jordan. An investigation is continuing to identify human remains recovered from the site.
In a separate incident, CENTCOM said a U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq on July 18 during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. Another service member sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment.
The latest update comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran following a series of drone and missile attacks across the region. U.S. officials have not released the identities of the deceased service members, pending notification of their families.
