Broadcasting live from London, Samsung’s July 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event delivered a massive wave of hardware and software announcements. Opening the presentation, TM Roh outlined Samsung’s core priorities for the coming year: advancing Agentic AI, deepening ecosystem connectivity and introducing a complete refresh of the flagship Galaxy lineup.

The Foldables: Thinner, Flatter and More Powerful
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
Introduced on stage by Kadesh Beckford, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra marks the arrival of Samsung’s top-tier Ultra branding on its folding lineup.
- Design & Display: It stands as the thinnest Galaxy Fold ever made, measuring just 143.2 × 158.4 × 4.1 mm when unfolded and weighing only 215g. The device adopts a squarer aspect ratio featuring an 8-inch main screen (2256×2504) and a 6.5-inch cover screen (2520×1080). Both are 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The screen structure incorporates Flex Titanium, utilises a wider Armor FlexHinge and boasts an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.
- Performance & Battery: Driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor clocking up to 4.74 GHz, it offers 12GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It features a 5,000 mAh battery using silicon-carbon anode technology for the first time in a Galaxy fold. It delivers up to 27 hours of video playback and supports 45W wired charging (reaching 67% in 30 minutes), wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and NFC.
- Cameras: Equipped with an Ultra-class camera setup featuring a 200MP main sensor (f/1.7 with OIS), 50MP ultra-wide lens (f/1.9) and a 10MP 3x optical zoom telephoto camera (f/2.4), alongside dual 10MP front sensors. It is powered by an advanced ProVisual Engine with improved Nightography, Super Steady video with horizontal lock and 8K recording at 30fps.
- Software: Running One UI 9 on Android 17, it features Now Nudge on notifications to suggest automated calendar checks and draft responses, plus Gemini Notebook to convert meeting notes into visuals.
- Colours & Pricing: Available in lavender, graphite, cream and pistachio. Retail pricing starts at $2,099.

Presented by Hannah Trott, the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 focuses on everyday ergonomics and refined display proportions.
- Design & Display: Measuring 161.4 × 123.9 × 4.5 mm and weighing a remarkably light 201g, it also carries an IP48 rating. It features a revised 4:3 display format designed to minimise letterboxing on media while offering a digital reader experience when turned sideways. It pairs a 7.6-inch main screen (2448×1848) with a 5.5-inch cover screen (1972×1248), both reaching 3,000 nits. Samsung adapted its native app suite specifically for this new display format.
- Performance & Battery: Powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, it comes with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The 4,800 mAh battery supports 45W wired charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, offering over 26 hours of continuous video playback.
- Cameras & Software: Uses a 50MP main sensor (f/1.8 with OIS), a 50MP ultra-wide camera and 10MP front cameras. It introduces Photo Assist for advanced image editing and My FanCam, an AI post-production editing tool that crops and tracks a chosen subject to keep them centred in video recordings.
- Colours & Pricing: Offering lavender, graphite, cream and pistachio options at $1,079.
Galaxy Z Flip8
Samsung’s classic clamshell fold gets a functional overhaul focused on cover-screen usability.
- Design & FlexWindow: Weighing 180g and measuring 166.9 × 75.4 × 6.1 mm unfolded, it boasts an IP48 rating. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen and a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, both running at 120Hz with a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Running One UI 9 on Android 17, the cover screen now supports all system gestures, full application usage and context-aware Now Brief reminders without unfolding the device.
- Performance & Battery: It is powered by the new 2nm Exynos 2600 chip, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The 4,300 mAh battery offers up to 31 hours of playback and supports 25W wired charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Connectivity features 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC.
- FlexCam: Uses a 50MP main camera (f/1.8 with OIS) and a 12MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.2) with a 10MP front lens. When bent at a 90-degree angle, the phone can be held like a traditional camcorder and features a digital horizontal lock for stable video recording.
- Colours & Pricing: Available in pink, graphite, cream and mint for $1,199.

During the event, actor Jacob Batalon took the stage following a promotional crossover for the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The stunt highlighted a new promotional portal, spideytracker.net, allowing fans to track the character across web platforms and social media using Galaxy foldables.

Samsung also unveiled major updates across its service platform:
- SamsungCare+: Expanded repair options worldwide at reduced price points, alongside a dedicated settings menu within One UI 9 to request repairs and track warranty status directly.
- Samsung Wallet: Launching the Samsung Galaxy Card in the U.S. with cash-reward structures, alongside native support for Stablecoins inside Samsung Wallet, making Samsung the first mobile manufacturer to integrate digital stablecoin management directly at the system level, secured by Samsung Knox.
Wearables: Galaxy Watch9 & Watch Ultra 2
Sharanya Desai highlighted that over 77 million users currently depend on Samsung Health, introducing expanded diagnostic metrics across the wearable line.

- Health Tracking: Introduces the combined Vitals engine, synthesising heart rate, respiratory rate and body temperature into a unified daily reading. Features a new Fitness Index readiness score, updated sleep apnea tracking (FDA-cleared across both Watch and Galaxy Ring platforms) and direct integration with Strava. The running coach introduced last year also gains advanced metrics.
- Specs: Available in 40mm and 44mm sizes in cream, silver and graphite. Powered by the 3nm 5-core Snapdragon Wear Elite platform with a display reaching 3,000 nits. Priced at $379.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2
Presented by John Englehardt, the top-tier smartwatch receives a design and durability upgrade aimed at endurance athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
- Build & Battery: Features a rugged Grade 4 titanium chassis with a squarer frame surrounding a round display. Houses a 600 mAh battery (a 35% capacity increase) offering up to 60 hours of operation.
- Display & Dive Certification: Boasts a peak brightness of 5,000 nits—the brightest display ever fitted to a Galaxy wearable. Certified to EN13319 standards for diving suitability, with dedicated dive functions developed in partnership with equipment brand Mares (available via subscription).
- Workouts: Adds real-time hydration estimation to alert runners and athletes to fluid needs during training. Priced at $699.
Agentic AI, Google Partnership & Smart Eyewear
Samsung’s Won-Joon Choi and Google’s Rick Osterloh outlined the next generation of platform intelligence under the Agentic AI initiative.
- System AI & Gemini Intelligence: One UI 9 introduces conversational task execution. Users can dictate multi-step instructions to Google Gemini—such as snapping a photo of an item to locate cheaper online alternatives or utilising over 40 pre-built digital chore integrations being released step-by-step. Google AI Pro is also included for free on new Fold and Flip purchases for a limited time.
- Cross-OS Quick Share: Quick Share now supports direct cross-platform transfers to Apple devices, while Smart Switch enables complete device migration via a single QR code scan.
- Smart Eyewear Teaser: Samsung, Google, Qualcomm (represented by Cristiano Amon) and eyewear brand Gentle Monster (alongside Warby Parker) formally showcased their upcoming smart glasses. Powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, the lightweight frames feature seamless hinges, up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge (with a case offering 7 additional recharges) and gesture controls integrated via Galaxy Watch bands. You can also do tasks on your phone through voice commands sent directly to the glasses.
